Peppermint, Peppermint or Yerbabuena essential oil : facilitates digestion, is a general tonic, anti-inflammatory and antispasmodic. Piperita mint is a herbaceous plant of the lamiaceae family, Mentha piperita species; is a sterile hybrid obtained from crossing water mint and spearmint, which sometimes occurs spontaneously in temperate regions of Europe. In its leaves it has a substance called menthol, which is what gives it its characteristic smell and also gives it its pharmacological properties [1].

Medicinal properties:

• Carminative, antiseptic, antibacterial, stimulant, antifungal, eupeptic, cholagogue, antiemetic, spasmolytic, antipruritic, analgesic, energetic, anti-inflammatory and vasodilator to treat respiratory diseases1-3 .

Main uses:

• Digestive discomfort: colic in babies, flatulence, diarrhea, indigestion, nausea and vomiting, morning sickness and anorexia, spasmolytic to reduce gas and cramps. You can apply a sublingual drop of good quality essential oil in case of indigestion, nausea or vomiting.
• For dyspepsia and digestive spasms, mix 3 drops of essential oil in a tablespoon of honey or safflower oil and apply under the tongue 3 times a day for a maximum of 3 weeks.
• For transport sickness and nausea it is recommended to smell the oil or mix 1 drop of essential oil in a spoonful of honey and apply under the tongue.
• For irritable colon mix 4 drops of essential oil in a spoon of honey maximum 3 times a day for a maximum of 2 weeks. This indication requires the supervision of a doctor.
• Anti-inflammatory effects, the oil is also used in toothache and to relieve menstrual cramps. For muscle and joint pain: mix 1 drop of Peppermint essential oil with 9 drops of vegetable oil and apply to the affected area.
